Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about privacy, features, and pricing.

Is PDFMint free?

Yes. Core tools like merge, split, compress, rotate, convert, annotate, password protect, and unlock are completely free with no usage limits. Pro features (watermark, redact, batch processing, PDF to Word, Office to PDF, OCR) are available with a paid plan.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Free tools process files entirely in your browser using WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your files never leave your device. Pro server-based tools send files via encrypted connection, and they are deleted immediately after processing.

Can I use PDFMint offline?

Once the page is loaded, most free tools work without an internet connection. Since all processing happens in your browser, you can go offline and continue working.

Which browsers are supported?

PDFMint works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. We recommend using the latest version for best performance.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit for free tools since processing happens on your device. Performance depends on your device's memory and processing power. Very large files (100MB+) may be slower on older devices.

What are Pro features?

Pro includes watermarking, redaction, batch processing, PDF to Word conversion, Office to PDF conversion, and OCR. Some Pro features use secure servers for processing that cannot be done in the browser.

I forgot the password for a protected PDF

PDFMint's unlock tool can remove restrictions (like print/copy restrictions) from PDFs, but it cannot crack password-encrypted PDFs. If you set a password using our protect tool, there is no way to recover it — please store passwords securely.

Does processing affect PDF quality?

Merge, split, rotate, and organize preserve the original quality exactly. Compression reduces file size by optimizing images, which may slightly reduce image quality depending on the compression level you choose.

Can I use it on my smartphone?

Yes. PDFMint is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. All browser-based tools work on mobile devices, though very large files may be slower to process.

Is PDFMint suitable for business use?

Absolutely. Since free tools process everything locally, there are no data privacy concerns. No account or sign-up is required, making it easy to adopt across teams. Pro plans offer additional features for professional workflows.
