Is an electronic signature added this way legally valid?
In most jurisdictions — including the United States (ESIGN Act, UETA), the European Union (eIDAS Simple Electronic Signature tier), the United Kingdom, Japan (電子署名法), and Australia — a typed, drawn, or image-based signature attached to a PDF is legally enforceable for the vast majority of business contracts. Highly regulated documents such as wills, real estate transfers, and notarized agreements may require a Qualified Electronic Signature; check your local rules before signing those.
Are my signature and the contract uploaded anywhere?
No. Unlike DocuSign, Adobe Sign, or HelloSign, PDFMint never uploads the document or your signature to any server. The PDF is parsed locally with pdf-lib, the signature is rendered into the page in your browser, and the result is saved straight to your downloads folder.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
You will need to unlock the PDF first with the Unlock tool (you must know the password) so that PDFMint can edit the page contents. After signing, you can re-apply a password using the Protect tool if you need to keep the document confidential in transit.
